A long time ago, when I was attending a other Christian church, a stranger asked me, “Do you believe that everyone who enters a church is a true believer?”
I answered, “No.”
Then I asked why they were asking. They shared that they had encountered people who called themselves believers but their conduct did not align with the teachings of Christ. It made them curious and led them to question why some people who profess to follow Christ can be so misleading. Their words deeply resonated with me.
That conversation reminded me that we should not identify a true believer solely by what they say or by the emotions they express, but also by the way they live. Scripture teaches that genuine faith is reflected in our actions and the fruit we bear. Even Satan knows and quotes Scripture, and the Bible says that even demons believe yet their actions reveal who they truly are. (James 2:19)
This has encouraged me to look beyond outward appearances and focus on a person’s character, humility, love, and obedience to God. 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭, a genuine believer seeks to follow Christ, and over time, their life reflects His transforming work. It is not a seasonal or occasional faith like logging into social media one moment and logging out the next. Rather, it is a lifelong pursuit of becoming more like Christ, growing in faith each day through His grace.
